Hakainde Hichilema as Chief Executive Officer of Grant Thornton Zambia

Hichilema rose quickly through the ranks of Zambia's corporate world, becoming CEO of Coopers and Lybrand Zambia in 1994 and subsequently CEO of Grant Thornton Zambia in 1998. He would go on to serve as CEO of Grant Thornton from 1998 to 2006, during which time he was also the biggest local shareholder in Barclays Bank Zambia Plc. Beyond his executive roles, he sat on numerous boards and chaired Barclays Bank Zambia Plc, Sun International and Africa Trade Insurance (ATI), among others.
