Record 70% Grade 12 Pass Rate Achieved in 2025
In 2025, Zambia recorded an impressive Grade 12 pass rate of 70 percent in public schools — the highest ever in the history of the country. President Hichilema attributed the milestone to deep, broad and well-planned policy reforms, including the introduction of free education, the recruitment of nearly 42,000 new teachers, the procurement of 1.6 million school desks, and the expansion of the school feeding programme to 106 districts. The achievement was highlighted in President Hichilema's State of the Nation Address to the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly on 20 February 2026.
